Take your backing fabric and tape it or clamp it right-side down to a large-enough table or the floor (something that can handle a little scratching). It should be taped/clamped nice and smooth, though not completely taut.<BR/>2. Lay your batting on top of the backing, making sure to smooth it out flat, but don't stretch it.<BR/>3. Lay your quilt top on top of the batting (face-up, of course) and again smooth out flat.<BR/>4. Starting from the middle: large safety pins through all three layers every 4-6". This is where tables/floors can get scratched. I also usually leave the pins open until I'm done, and then use a screwdriver to help prop up the pointy bit (that went through the fabri) so you can actually push down the top of the pin to latch it (hard to explain, but it makes sense when you see it...).<BR/><BR/>Good luck!
